Team Member
Ready to dedicate more time and gain hands on experience? Become a team member to foster connections with residents at our partner shelters!
-
As a team member, you will be a part of a shelter team that works directly with one of our partner organizations such as The People Concern Village Branch or Good Shepherd Center. As part of our Shelter Specific Model (SSM), you will attend around 4-5 health events (approx. 10-12 hours) with your shelter team so residents get to see you multiple times! At these events, you will be providing diabetes and hypertension screenings, explaining health education sheets, and engaging in conversations with residents. Each screening is also paired with a FUN component such as games and crafts that allow our connections to go beyond the screenings.
You will also be expected to attend All-Hands Meetings which are biweekly meetings on campus with all team members. This is a time to share ideas, brainstorm solutions, and hear from guest speakers.
As a new team member, you will also undergo a semester as an intern where you will be gaining valuable skills alongside your cohort. You will also get a chance to put those trainings into action during this semester with the support of a mentor.

General Member
Not ready to commit 100% or interested in learning more? Join as a general member to be added to our mailing list and join in on monthly speaker events.
-
As a general member, you will have the opportunity to join our special speaker events and/or health-centered discussions that will happen about once a month. Our goal is that you will be able to gain more insight about the complexity of healthcare in unhoused and historically marginalized communities. For example, you may attend a presentation and discussion surrounding intersectionality as applied to health care.
You will also be the first to hear about our open-opportunity events and future team member openings.
This is a great option if you already have many other commitments or simply want to learn more alongside likeminded peers.
